Frequently asked questions
How much does rodent control in Riga cost?
The price is set by the type of site and its floor area, not by the number of rodents. For flats the sum depends on the number of rooms; for private houses, on the length of the perimeter as well; for commercial sites it is worked out individually. The full price list with every item is on the prices page, and the sum given is the final price.
How quickly do you reply to a request?
Within 5 minutes. We work 24 hours a day, nights and weekends included.
Is rodent control safe for children and pets?
Yes. We use closed, lockable bait stations that a child or pet cannot get into. In rooms with children we work with mechanical traps only.
Do the premises have to be vacated during treatment?
No. Rodent control does not require you to clear the rooms or move out.
How long does it take to see a result?
Mice respond quickly, often on the first night. Rats need 3–7 days, because they avoid new objects in their territory.
Does the treatment need repeating?
In flats the treatment plus one follow-up check within 10–14 days is usually enough, and that visit is included in the price. Once the entry points are sealed, further treatment is not normally needed. At commercial sites with a constant influx, regular servicing is advisable.
Do you work with businesses?
Yes — warehouses, production facilities, restaurants, shops, offices and other commercial sites, including regular servicing with control points and a written record of the work carried out.
Do you deal with insects?
No. We work only with rodents — rats and mice.
How do you tell rats from mice?
By the droppings: a mouse leaves droppings 3–6 mm long with pointed ends, a rat 15–20 mm with blunt or rounded ends. The other sign is the size of the gnawing — a hole gnawed in wood by a mouse is about 2 cm across, by a rat 4 cm and more.
Why do the bait stations sit untouched for a few days?
Rats avoid new objects in their territory — this is called neophobia. For the first three to seven days the stations may stay untouched, and that is a normal part of the process, not a problem with the method. Mice respond faster, often on the first night.
Do the rooms need washing after treatment?
No. The product sits only inside a closed station and does not get onto surfaces. If there were droppings in the room, clear them with gloves and a damp cloth, not with a dry brush or a vacuum cleaner.
How long does the result last?
If the entry points are sealed, the result lasts a long time. If the gaps are left open, new rodents take over the vacated territory within a few weeks. At sites with a constant influx, such as warehouses and the basements of apartment blocks, regular control is advisable.
Can I treat only my own flat in an apartment block?
You can, and sometimes that is enough. If the activity comes back within a few weeks, or the neighbours are complaining about the same thing, the source is in the communal areas — usually the basement. Then only treating the communal areas gives a lasting result.
What if there are small children or pets in the home?
Say so in your request. In rooms where children or pets spend time we use closed, lockable stations or mechanical traps only, set out where they cannot be reached. There is no need to leave the premises.
When does the problem need dealing with urgently?
The main test is whether delay changes the consequences. In businesses handling food, and at sites with damaged wiring, waiting increases both the risk and the cost. In a home, urgency is usually set by how fast the activity is building up. There is a detailed account on the emergency rodent control page.
Is treatment less effective in winter?
No, often more so. In winter rodents are concentrated indoors and their routes are easier to pin down. The cold on its own does not solve the problem — the rodents simply move closer to the warmth.
